Volleyball Secure Consecutive Wins in Region Battles, Look to Wrap up Regular Season on High Note this Week
The Central Wyoming College Women's Volleyball team clinched consecutive victories this past week, dominating their opponents in a series of decisive matches held in Torrington and Cheyenne. With two wins against Eastern Wyoming College and Laramie County Community College, the Rustlers improved their season to a 13-16 overall record and a strong 7-3 in conference play.
On October 24, the Rustlers faced off against Eastern Wyoming College, claiming a robust 3-1 victory. The sets saw scores of 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-19 respectively. The Rustlers' offensive game saw Presley Ryan and Laina Whitney collectively dominating, with significant contributions from Nora Rasmussen. Defensively, with Rachel Workman's leading four blocks supported by Quincey Mathews and Whitney each adding two, the Rustlers showed formidable strength.
The following day, October 25, further showcased Rustlers' prowess as they swept Laramie County Community College with a clean 3-0 win. Set scores were impressively secured at 25-14, 25-23, and 25-22. Rachel Workman commanded the offense with 9 kills, supported by Ryan and Rasmussen, who also played key roles in blocks and digs. Mathews and Rasmussen excelled in serving, each scoring multiple aces that helped tip the scales in the Rustlers' favor.
This streak of wins was crucial for the Rustler's morale and standings, reflecting a resilient team gearing up for future challenges in the season. Notable players included Presley Ryan for consistent offensive power across both games, and Nora Rasmussen's versatility was highlighted by her impressive totals in aces, kills, and assists on October 25th, demonstrating her vital role in shaping the matches.
The Rustler's last two regular season games take place this week on October 29 & November 1, and Saturday's game the Rustler's will recognize their sophomores.
