Central Wyoming College Rustlers Face Challenging Start at Arizona Western Tournament

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers commenced their NJCAA volleyball season with a series of challenging matches at the Arizona Western Tournament. The Women's team encountered a diverse mix of outcomes in their initial set of matches, navigating both wins and defeats.

The tournament's kick-off saw the Rustlers pitted against Arizona Western, resulting in a 3-1 loss despite strong performances, particularly from Presley Ryan, who led with 11 kills, and Quincey Mathews, who amassed 20 assists and 4 aces. This match set a resilient tone for the Rustlers as they headed into their subsequent games. Their second face-off was against Yavapai College, where they reversed their fortunes with a 3-1 victory, bolstered by Mathews' impressive 32 assists.

Continuing the tournament's rigorous schedule, the Rustlers then faced Glendale Community College. Unfortunately, they could not maintain their momentum, succumbing to a 3-0 defeat. The final match in this sequence was against Central Arizona College, which also concluded in a loss, with a score of 3-1, despite another strong effort from Mathews contributing 26 assists.

Looking ahead, the Rustlers are set to participate in the Salt Lake Community College Tournament on August 29, 2025, where they will face College Southern Idaho. The Rustlers current standing in the season is 1-3, indicating a challenging start but also showcasing the potential for adversity-driven growth as the season progresses.
