Central Wyoming College Women’s Soccer Hangs Tight with Division I Opponent

The Central Wyoming College women's soccer team showed it belonged on the big stage this past Saturday, going toe-to-toe with NCAA Division 1 Idaho State University in a fast, physical, and highly competitive match at Davis Field in Pocatello, ID.

The Rustlers set the tone early. Off a corner kick, Lalei Stoker got a shot off that was saved by the goalkeeper, but Reese Titland followed up the rebound and finished to give CWC a 1-0 lead. The goal marked a historic milestone, as Titland became the first player in program history to score against a Division 1 opponent.

Idaho State responded in the second period with two goals to take a 2-1 lead, but Central Wyoming never backed down. The Rustlers continued to press, creating quality chances and forcing Idaho State to compete for every moment. The final period remained scoreless, with both sides battling until the end.

CWC had opportunities late to equalize, highlighting the team's ability to create against top-level competition.

"We showed we can compete. We didn't back down, and we put ourselves in a position to win. That's the standard" Head Coach Benjamin Nelson emphasized following the match, "It's bigger than soccer. It's about who they're becoming—discipline, consistency, and how they carry themselves. That's what we're building here."

While the final score read 2-1, the result told only part of the story. The Rustlers demonstrated their growth, resilience, and ability to compete with top-tier programs—another step forward in building a championship-level culture at Central Wyoming College.
