Froerer and Spoonhunter Lead CWC Distance Track to Multiple Gold Medals in Colorado
In continuation of their spring season, the Central Wyoming College distance track team put on a dominant display at a tri-meet in Salida, Colorado, on March 27. Competing against Colorado Mountain College and Trinidad State, the Rustlers captured three individual titles and multiple podium finishes.
The women's side was headlined by a stellar performance from Amberly Froerer, who proved untouchable in the middle-distance events. Froerer swept the competition, taking 1st place in both the 1500M and the 800M races.
On the men's side, Davian Spoonhunter continued his strong season by claiming 1st place in the 800M. Spoonhunter nearly secured a double-gold performance of his own, finishing with a hard-earned 2nd place in the 1500M. In the long-distance category, Henry Nava demonstrated impressive endurance, battling through a competitive field to take 2nd place in the 5000M.
The Rustlers will compete in their last scheduled competition for the spring on April 10 & 11, when they travel to Golden, CO for Colorado School of the Mines hosted meet.
