Central Wyoming College Men's Soccer Season Preview: New Dawn Under Coach Horwood

Riverton, WY— Central Wyoming College Men's Soccer, led by first-time head coach Marcus Horwood, is gearing up for a pivotal season. Coming off a challenging record of 3-7-3 last year and a first-round playoff exit, the Rustlers are setting the bar high with expectations to transcend past performances and secure more wins this season.

The Rustlers' schedule is packed with critical games, including their first home preseason game on August 27 against Utah State University Eastern and their first conference home game against Casper College on September 19. Both events are crucial for setting the tone for the season.

Key players Josh Bromwell, Charles Jones, and goalkeeper Stanley Schumann are returning to the pitch to fortify the Rustlers' lineup. Bromwell, who scored four goals last season, and Jones, will be imperative for the Rustlers' frontline, while Schumann will continue safeguarding the net.

Coach Horwood expressed his strategy for the season, emphasizing a shift from merely competing to winning outright. "This season we have high expectations set for both the team and each individual. We want to strive for greatness and continue to drive this program towards where it belongs and go on to achieve things that have never been done at this college. Central Wyoming College is no longer a team that just competes, we're ready to win and to win now."

With this mindset, the Rustlers aim to redefine their presence in the collegiate soccer landscape. Adding to the excitement are 17 newcomers, who along with 9 returning players, will seek to blend experience with fresh talent to carve out a successful season.
