Central Wyoming College Men's Basketball Falls in Consecutive Home Games

Riverton, WY – The Central Wyoming College Rustlers' men's basketball team faced a tough week at the Rustler Gym, suffering defeats in back-to-back home games inthe Winter Classic presented by Wind River Hotel & Casino on December 5th and 6th. The results bring the team's current record to 3-9 as they look ahead to their next matchup.

 

December 5th: Rustlers vs. Utah State Eastern

The Rustlers opened the week against Utah State Eastern on December 5th, ultimately falling with a final score of 67-46. The game started competitively, but Utah State Eastern steadily built a lead, which the Rustlers couldn't overcome.

  • By halftime, Central Wyoming was trailing 31-21.

  • Isaac Patik led the scoring effort for the Rustlers with 12 points.

  • Christian Kranz showcased his utility, scoring 8 points and leading the team with 5 assists.

  • On defense, Jordan Peel stood out, securing 10 rebounds and recording 2 steals.

December 6th: Rustlers vs. Salt Lake Community College

In their second challenging encounter on December 6th, the Rustlers hosted Salt Lake Community College and were defeated 99-68. The Rustlers were strong early on, keeping the game close.

  • The first half concluded with SLCC holding a narrow two-point lead, 45-43.

  • The second half, however, saw Salt Lake Community College pull away dramatically, extending their lead to a 31-point margin to secure the victory.

  • Julian Ormond was a top performer, scoring 20 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, while also contributing 2 steals defensively. 

  • Jordan Peel added 13 points and led the team with 5 assists.

  • Isaac Patik contributed 11 points and matched Ormond's effort with 6 rebounds. 

Looking Ahead

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers will look to bounce back and improve their record when they confront Miles Community College in Powell, WY, on December 12.
